A Track Record of Building and Supporting Enterprise-Grade Systems.
I’m Jamie Goodyear, an enterprise software analyst and Apache Software Foundation member.
This site highlights my work in open-source systems, architecture, and technical leadership. Client engagements are delivered as part of the team at Savoir Technologies.
The Problem I Solve
In long-lived enterprise systems, complexity accumulates.
Over time, configurations grow harder to reason about, institutional knowledge fades, and small changes carry outsized risk. Even well-built systems can become difficult to evolve without introducing fragility.
✘ Performance dips and no one’s sure why
✘ Configs pile up with no documentation
✘ Deployments break with the slightest change
✘ Teams don’t feel confident making updates
Much of my work has focused on helping teams regain clarity — understanding what they have, why it behaves the way it does, and how to move forward responsibly.
How I Typically Contribute
I support teams working with complex, open-source-driven systems — often in environments where reliability, continuity, and shared understanding matter as much as delivery speed.
I contribute to projects in three key ways:
▶ Architecture Review & Analysis
Understanding system structure, risks, and constraints
▶ Technical Guidance & Remediation
Helping teams address architectural issues without unnecessary rework
▶ Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer
Strengthening internal capability so systems remain understandable over time
